Last year was year-two for the Neutron Man Memorial Golf Outing and it was again a great success with more than $30,000 being turned over to The Ohio State University scholarship endowment in the name of Orlas King. If we reach our income goal this year, the endowment will have been sufficiently funded to begin providing at least partial scholarships going forward. With that as our target, it is time to appeal to you for support of the 2008 Neutron Man Golf Outing, which is scheduled for New Albany Country Club on September 22nd. As before, all net proceeds will go into an endowment held by the university to fund a need-based scholarship in Orlas’ name for a band member and a cheerleader.
Details for registration or sponsorship opportunities are included in the enclosed packet. Golf will be limited this year to the first 40 paid foursomes (or groups assembled from individual registrations). In order to accommodate golfers of all skill levels, we will again offer a dual format this year. All registered groups will be divided, based on your stated preference, to play either a Scramble or a Best 2-of-4 Balls format.
Please note that you may invite additional guests to just attend the reception-pep rally-auction as indicated on the registration form. Mindy Drayer, WCMH weekend anchor and a huge Buckeye Fan will emcee the reception and awards ceremony. We have the pep band, Brutus and the cheerleaders lined up to get us going like they have in prior years including our own rendition of Script Ohio winding around the ballroom. Live auction items will include: OSU football tickets, Columbus Blue Jackets tickets, several golf packages to local premium country clubs, and warm weather vacation getaway condominiums just in time for winter.
Join us for a great day, honoring a great friend, and supporting a great cause!
Thank you,
Leo Smathers
